 
The Nia Technique is a dynamic cardiovascular workout
that stimulates and integrates the mind, body and spirit.
Nia gives people of all ages and fitness levels tools
to explore their own bodies and the ways they move. Students are given
the space and time to explore, perceive, and refine their movements
in order to experience greater ease and pleasure. Through the practice
of Nia's time-tested technique, the body, mind, emotions, and spirit
transform - changing and growing to reach the personal potential set
by each individual.
At its core, Nia is about expressing the joy
of movement. Music from around the world invites you to explore
the dynamic possibility of movement within your own body. Incorporating
elements from the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts, a Nia routine
is choreographed by each instructor into an invigorating 60-minute cardiovascular
routine. We are not twins, and every body moves in its own way, so students
are encouraged to explore how their body moves, rather than
trying to exactly mimic the instructor's movements.
Nia is dedicated to the physical and emotional spiral
of the soulful freedom of movement inherent in every being. After a
Nia class you will feel recharged, rejuvenated, full and alive.
All ages and levels of experience are welcome in a
Nia class, which will range in age from 13-80. Each student is encouraged
to modify their movements, speed and range of motion to suit their own
needs and ability. The class is taught barefoot in order to assist you
in connecting with the Earth and building strength in your foundation.
(If you need to wear shoes for any reason, please bring shoes that are
only worn indoors so that we can protect the floors for those going
barefoot.)
